As Spring has almost arrived (20th March is the big day, if you were wondering), it’s a time to plan some outdoor adventures yomping through the countryside or popping up a mountain or two.
But for the full benefits from a nature boost, don’t just rely on those big ticket outings.
Just 20 minutes a day outside is the golden number that can significantly boost concentration, attention and memory by about 20%, and positively impact on happiness and other aspects of mental health (Prof Marc Berman, Uni of Chicago).
That can be brisk walk in the local park, gardening or even just sitting outside somewhere green whilst you eat your lunch. You can even watch YouTube videos of nature (but the impact is a lot less marked).
Or, like me, you may have your own personal trainer who glares and wags until you give in anyway…
